Baltimore Dance Crews Project
Through Hip-Hop dance, Baltimore Dance Crews Project strengthens the relationships between youth and adults to raise academic achievement, promote healthy lifestyles, and unlock youth leadership. We provide low-cost Hip-Hop dance programs across the Baltimore region because above all, dance is fun. Maryland ranks in the bottom 10 states in access to after-school programs. To overcome this, we inspire people to dance through performances and workshops, working toward preparing young people to lead Hip-Hop dance in their own communities through auditioned performance teams and apprenticeship programs. We provide four levels of programs, ranging from no experience to pre-professional. Hip-Hop emerged from stark societal situations of racism, classism, and ageism to forge a culture of improvisation and the audacity to believe one can do things never done before (Sam Seidel). Hip-Hop is the anchor that allows BDCP to strengthen relationships with students, particularly students from low-income communities. The culture of Hip-Hop helps company members better understand and meet the personal, academic, and professional needs of students. We encourage you to learn more about BDCP by visiting our website and watching us in action on our YouTube channel.
