The mission of the Inspiration Factory is to teach youth how to facilitate community development in Baltimore, Maryland. We want to ensure that youth are using 21st-century skills along with social justice awareness as tools to solve community-centered problems and address the needs of youth through the use of technology, public health, and nutrition. Specifically, we focus on food insecurity and how it plays an integral role in the lives of the youth. We seek to make them aware of the correlation between food insecurity and various other community risk factors for youth. In addition, we engage children in gardening as a method to teach them the importance of food sustainability. This activity integrates three important topics: environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic equity. We are guiding youth to explore their interest in STEM career opportunities through STEM learning activities, and we encourage them to demonstrate STEM skills and methods of investigation and research. In essence, we want to equip youth with the knowledge to transform their communities. Our signature programs are Camp Community, The Futures Program, Jack Johnson Electro Shaman Podcast, Nutritional Consultation and #Grudgelife Films.
