Mera Kitchen Collective

Mera Kitchen Collective is a food-based cooperative founded by and for refugee and immigrant women with a passion for cooking. We empower ourselves through entrepreneurship and ownership. We are creating an inclusive community by sharing the cuisines from our home countries with the people of Baltimore. We’ve hosted pop-up events at Baltimore restaurants, led cooking classes and coffee ceremonies and cater special events. We’ll have a booth at the Baltimore Farmers Market beginning May 2018. Our vision is to open and operate a community-owned cafe and provide meaningful employment and connections for refugee and immigrant women living in Baltimore. As a worker-owned cooperative, each chef will have ownership in the enterprise that we built together. This allows for each individual to not only strengthen their culinary expertise, but also build equity and have a voice in operations and strategic decision making.
