Out For Justice
Out For Justice Inc. (OFJ) was founded in 2006 by formerly incarcerated individuals who were ready and willing to work but repeatedly denied employment due to their criminal record. With the support of friends and members of their families, OFJ strives to end employment barriers and all perpetual punishment that adversely affects ex-offenders. OFJ’s vision is to engage and empower individuals who have been directly and/or indirectly impacted by the criminal justice system. As leaders on the front line of criminal justice reform in Maryland, members strive to bring about broad and deep economic and social change on behalf of themselves and others who are negatively affected by possession of a criminal record. OFJ’s purpose is to improve outcomes for persons with a criminal background. Through targeted reform campaigns, members work to eradicate existing and prevent future counter-productive policies that create unnecessary barriers to success for those with a criminal record. Our goals are to: - Identify and engage Baltimore City residents with a criminal record and empower them to organize. - Become leaders in organized efforts to improve local and statewide policies and practices that impose discriminatory barriers to employment, housing, and other critical services for individuals with a criminal background. - Change the public and self-perception of the "ex-offender."
