Youth Know How Initiative
Building Up Youth By Building In Skills is the motto and mission of the Youth Know How Initiative. Dedicated to workforce success for youth and young adults, YKH facilitates and partners with a diverse group of professionals to provide job, life, and arts skills to prepare youth for the workplace and then provide real-life workplace experiences. YKH works with participants between the ages of 14 and 25 who are involved with the juvenile or criminal justice systems, homeless, in foster care, or otherwise vulnerable to entry into child-serving or justice systems. YKH brings comprehensive and dynamic trainings directly to youth served by community and neighborhood organizations and agencies. YKH also provides facilitator trainings for job skills, conflict resolution, and mentoring so organizations can offer these YKH trainings as part of their own programming. When youth finish job skills training, they are eligible for Youth Employment & Education Support funds to further support employment and education opportunities, including driver’s education, GED courses, college tuition, professional certificate training, books, computers, tools, and professional clothing. YES funds can also be used for subsidized employment to receive on-the-job training. YKH Job Developers seek out age-appropriate jobs and internships, which can lead to permanent full-time or part-time jobs. With our sister for-profit business, Strategic Expansion & Trainings, LLC, we offer the Being Fund Ready training that provides insights and strategies for winning grants and having success with any fundraising campaign.
